Sonoma and Fort Lauderdale
I recently spent time in Sonoma, California, to see my father and get some much needed R&R. Coming up in May is GoRiverwalk’s Wine & Food issue, so I thought I would share some observations. Other than the cool weather (and no humidity), I found that our Fort Lauderdale area can offer up some of the best food and wine, just like we found in Sonoma.
Overall, we enjoyed Sonoma’s laid back charm and realized that it reminded us of home (Fort Lauderdale). The people were warm, friendly and ready to offer advice. The town square had unique shops and café style restaurants like our own Las Olas Boulevard. In the end, I’ll take the scenic beach drive over the rural, farm landscape. Although born in Monterey, Calif., I was raised in South Florida and am proud to call Fort Lauderdale my home.
