My New Times’ South Florida Web Awards Dilemma

New Times' South Florida Web Awards 2012Question 9.  Food Blog

Two of my friends are both nominated for this BEST OF award. South Florida Food & Wine and Burger Beast present the most consistent reviews, keep me informed (even intrigued at times!) … they care about the community they choose to write about.

So I am perplexed.

New Times’ South Florida Web Awards 2012 latest contest is promoted as their “first annual South Florida Web Awards.”   Here are their instructions:

We’ve spent the past few weeks scoping out South Florida’s social media landscape in search of the best of the web. Our eyes are a bit bleary from staring at our computer screens and iPhones, but here it is: our first annual South Florida Web Awards. From the apps you can’t live without to the blog you should be reading and the Instagram photos that put South Florida under a toaster filter, we’re recognizing those who take the time to digitally document our area.

Now that we’ve decided on the finalists, you, the reader, can make your choice.

I narrowed the choice to my favorite two. They both offer unique views, and are very different blogs:

Sef Gonzalez, better known as Burger Beast, is a respected South Florida Food Blogger, with national reach, who writes about unique food experiences. Although his blog was originally created to find the best burger in Miami, it now represents a publication with the aim to shine light on the often overlooked, undiscovered, and unappreciated culinary gems of South Florida and other noteworthy destinations. Burger Beast has also written for Broward New Times, edible south Florida, The Miami Herald and Ocean Drive Magazine.

South Florida Food and Wine is the go-to resource for all things food, wine and events from Palm Beach to Key West. 2011 was a whirlwind of excitement as they celebrated their 2-year anniversary in 2011. Their new look is the outward metamorphosis of the many additions, changes and growth. In 2011, Christine Najac and her blog won the Sun-Sentinel people’s choice award for best foodie blog and signed a book contract 5 days later to pen the first ever “Food Lovers’ Guide to Miami and Fort Lauderdale“.  In addition, South Florida Weekend Getaways covers fabulous getaway experiences and information from Palm Beach to Key West and beyond.

How to choose just one?
