QPQ’s Grille 401 Adventure



We recently tagged along with Go Riverwalk Magazine‘s Dining Destination writer Marci Boland Hanretta as she prepared her column for the February Issue. The subject of this month’s column was Grille 401 on Las Olas. The tasting, hosted by owner Kevin Blair, was a culinary adventure. Fresh ingredients, unique spices, explosion of flavors ending with luscious desserts. QPQ’s personal favorites noted. We ordered Bombay G&T’s to accompany our tasting, made impeccably by the bartender — we mention this because this very simple drink needs to be made precisely, with fresh and carbonated tonic and a slice of lime. Starters

  • Creamy Corn and Baby Clam Chowder
  • ✰  Fresh Beets and Goat Cheese Salad Jalapeño Mac & Cheese >>> just the right amount of heat!
  • ✰  Chilled Fresh Kale Salad >>> light dressing, crisp and cool

 

Dinner and sides

  • ✰  Grilled Artichokes with herbs and butter make a perfect palate primer
  • Tuna Tartare poke style w/ avocado, fried wonton, ponzu sauce, pickled ginger, sour cream, wasabi
  • ✰  Crispy Crab Fritters stuffed with crab, shrimp & risotto fried in phyllo dough w/ lobster ginger sauce & corn relish >>> crunchy, crisp and flavorful
  • Cedar Plank Atlantic Salmon with mustard butter and kale salad melted in our mouths
  • ✰  American Kobe Beef Cheeseburger Sliders on buttery toasted buns with crunchy pickles and crisp fried onions – FAB!
  • Elegant Chicken Paillard paired a sautéed chicken breast on top of angel hair pasta drenched in brown butter sauce with a bright note added by the arugula, sun-dried tomatoes and roasted red pepper tapenade

 

Desserts were rich and plentiful

  • ✰  Authentic Key Lime Pie, fresh whipped cream and a buttery pecan crust
  • Delish Flourless Dark Chocolate Waffle with vanilla ice cream
  • Moist Carrot Cake with cream cheese frosting in abundance
