QuinnProQuo goes PINK to support Glam-A-THON™

It was six years ago this month that my family found out that my mother was diagnosed with inoperable ovarian cancer.  Until you hear those words, you cannot comprehend what it means. Everything is thrown at you at once. Statistics, decisions, vague answers and empathy.  I can look back now and try to make sense of it, but within six weeks my mother lost her fight.

Armed with a new passion & understanding, I have joined with Glam-A-THON™ creator Tammy Gail to support her organization. QuinnProQuo is proud to donate our social media and strategic planning services as we strut our stuff in October to “Kiss Breast Cancer Goodbye”.

Please visit our Sole Sisters Team facebook page for all our fun-raising efforts as we get ready to strap on our pink stilettos and vie for the crown. We are the 3x reigning champions, and Queen Lee Sheffield (2008) and Ginny Fujino are prepping our team. Join us, we promise great networking and a fab time: Glam Registration Flyer-Sole Sisters

Sincerest thanks to QPQ’s partners who have stepped up to support us, your donations will make a difference!

Tick! Tock! Time Flies…Introducing LastMinute Lauderdale

Tick! Tock! Time Flies…and you’ve waited until the, yes, Last Minute to make your plans.

Well, you’ve come to the right place. Discover the rewards of not planning ahead. The “pros” of procrastination. At LastMinute Lauderdale, when time flies you can climb aboard and let it take you someplace great.

Have you noticed that many good deals “pop” up at the last minute and stay alive for only a brief time? The chef’s “fresh from the market” special at your favorite restaurant, a hot “stay-cation” weekend package at a luxurious beach resort, a special price on the last few tickets to a wonderful charity black-tie event or day-of tickets to a sold out show, mid-week two-for-one treatments at a fabulous spa or a tonight-only promotion at an exciting night spot. Of course, let’s not ignore a good old fashioned half-off sale at a trendy boutique.

Unfortunately, it’s not possible to be everywhere at once, so the majority of these deals will expire without you even knowing about them. That’s bad for you, and bad for the merchant. But now, the LastMinute Community can be your eyes and ears, hipping you to all the best now-or-never local deals.

LastMinute Lauderdale is a social network helping people share great, time-sensitive opportunities with each other and enabling merchants to inform their customers about special “LastMinute” offers. By sharing these “expiring experiences” we help people discover hidden opportunities, maybe save some money and create a following for our local businesses. LastMinute Lauderdale is a central point to get the word out at, like the name says, the last minute.

The Circle of Wise Women’s JA World Uncorked! a Success

As a founding member of the Circle of Wise Women at Junior Achievement of South Florida,  Renée Korbel Quinn was part of the dynamic team that developed the concept for an inaugural fundraiser called Uncorked! With the involvement of Southern Wine & Spirits, the premise was to create a unique event that offered guests the opportunity to experience a wine tasting and food sampling with a party feel without long speeches or presentations.  Imagine attending an event where you can come and go, spend part of the evening or party till the last dance!

Along with chairs Stacie Weisman & JoLynn Lombardi,  Renée took on the task of making this event a success.  As Sponsorship Chair she worked with Diana Metcalf, JA’s Director of Major Gifts, to create a sponsorship program as unique as the event itself.  Barbara Capeletti took on the amazing auction and Kit Schulman guided the decor to create one of the best events of the season.  In addition to her committee role, Renée & QuinnProQuo donated Social Media strategic planning,  created and launched  a facebook presence for the Circle of Wise Women and developed integral media partnerships to create awareness for the event.

On October 30th 2010 over 300 guests joined the Circle of Wise Women at the “Moulin Rouge” inside JA World for a memorable evening of indulgence. Senses were delighted with tastings of over 300 wines, spirits, decadent food bites and dancing to benefit Junior Achievement in their new state-of-the-art 60,000 square foot facility, JA World Huizenga Center at Broward College.  Funds raised at this inaugural event benefit the Educational Programming at Junior Achievement of South Florida.

As guests entered JA World, a 59,000 sq. ft. state-of-the art mini-city, they were welcomed by two models in a larger than life bubbling champagne glass. They continued on through the JA Biz Towns enjoying the eclectic array of food including cheese fondue from The Melting Pot, filet mignon sliders from Capital Grille, ceviche from Chef Remi and decadent blue cheese mashed potatoes from White Apron Catering in Lake Worth.  Decadent bites throughout the JA World Biz Towns included BRIO Tuscan Grill, The Cheese Course, Forever Sweet Cakes by Design, Hibiscus Café, Caliente Kitchen, Mojo, Chef Remi’s Catering, TooJay’s Original Gourmet Deli, Cold Stone Creamery, Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, Uncle Julio’s Fine Mexican Food, and Blue Martini.

Over 30 wineries and spirits from around the world offered tastings of over 300 varieties, many of which were available for purchase through Crown Liquor. Silent auction items  included an all inclusive trip to Jamaica,  a one-of-a-kind 18 ct. white gold & diamond necklace provided by Daoud’s Fine Jewelry, a Prada Leather Bag provided by American Express and a custom Vince Neil autographed Washburn Guitar.

The evening culminated in Finance Park with an extravagant Moulin Rouge themed party complete with can-can girls, stilt walkers, decadent desserts, aerial acrobatic shows and dancing to live music by the Steven Chase Band.  David Johnson, A Basket Affair,  provided the decor for the evening.

We could not have been successful without the following Wise Women,  Partners and Sponsors:

Stacie Weisman and JoLynn Lombardi were our Fab Event Chairs.  Honorary Chair and Le Chateau Sponsor was Lorraine Thomas. The Circle of Wise Women committee included Barbara Capeletti as Auction Chair, Kit Schulman as Decor Chair and Renée Korbel Quinn as Sponsorship Chair. Junior Achievement’s Diana Metcalf coordinated the event for JA. Sponsor Photography provided by Jason Leidy, South Florida Photo.

JA World Uncorked was presented by Southern Wine and Spirits and sponsored by Lorraine Thomas, Case Automotive Group, Citrix Systems, Janet & Karl Davis, FPL, Spherion and The Wasie Foundation.

Other sponsors included Renee Bush, QuinnProQuo, Barbara Capeletti PA, Tari & Edward Collins, Falcone Family Foundation, KPMG, Regions Bank, Toney Capital Holdings, Joy Tong & John Pulichino, U.S. Trust/Bank of America,  Linda & Doug Von Allmen, Peter Woolf, Cambridge Specialty, TLC Engineering and SouthFloridaFoodandWine.com

Merci à tous nos sponsors et des supporters pour faire de notre événement un succès! Les photos seront bientôt disponibles. Avec satisfaction.  Stacie & Jolynn

About our Passion:

More than 55,000 students learn about finances, banking, commerce, jobs, and work and much more through the 25 programs offered by Junior Achievement. The Circle of Wise Women’s goal is to support these efforts. At JA World’s facility two experiential programs focused on 5th grade and 8th grade students. After extensive in-class, curriculum driven preparation, the students come for an onsite visit where they are an “adult” for a day. The 5th grade students work in JA BizTowns learning to run a business and 8th grade students learn personal financial responsibility and budgeting; skills that every student should know to become a successful adult.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Broward present Déjà Vu Homecoming!

Can you remember your Homecoming? Were you a brain, a jock, a band geek, a cheerleader or in the glee club? Join us on October 9, 2010 as we celebrate the musical hits from the ’50s to the ’90s for an all-night extravaganza that we like to call Déjà Vu. Located at the world-famous Bahia Mar Beach Resort and produced by Sixth Star Entertainment, Déjà Vu is the party of the year you won’t want to miss.

This year’s honorees include:
• Nat Moore of the Miami Dolphins
• Bill Fauerbach of Publix Super Markets, Inc.
• Tom & Ginny Miller of Miller Construction

Déjà Vu is a retro, costumed, all-night celebration honoring South Florida’s finest child advocates. The event is Big Brothers Big Sisters of Broward County’s single-largest fundraising event of the year. Our signature event is held at the Bahia Mar Beach Resort in Fort Lauderdale and runs from 6:00pm to midnight. The event’s festivities include the dynamic sights and sounds of the 1950s-1980s, cocktails, silent auction, dinner and dancing. All night long (and well into the morning), 400-500 guests experience non-stop entertainment and surprises in the form of musical acts, large scale dance productions and the always-anticipated, top-secret, live headline performer. Previous years have seen the likes of Tom Jones, Madonna & Tina Turner doubles and an American Idol finalist. For more information, visit BBBS Deja Vu.

The purpose of the night is to celebrate 36 years of mentoring success in South Florida through Big Brothers Big Sisters. All of the funds raised that night go directly toward providing the transformational power of mentorship to the children currently in our programs and to help expand the mentoring experience to the hundreds of children still on the waiting list for a Big Brother or Big Sister.

Connection Update: Blacktie-Southflorida.com

Ginny Fujino AKA Blacktie Southflorida.com is a tremendous asset to our South Florida community.  I have known Ginny for several years and she has supported many of my charitable initiatives & several of my board commitments (Riverwalk Trust, Winterfest, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Broward County & Glam-A-THON). I highly recommend her myriad of services to large and small organizations...Blacktie Southflorida.com provides a new dimension to fundraising initiatives and support for non profit organizations. The Blacktie Southflorida.com calendar is THE calendar to refer to when planning events, and I use the nonprofit directory to research organization mission statements and track records. QuinnProQuo is proud to support her Boot Camp series and look forward to being a social media partner.
